REMUNERATION:
- Basic Monthly Salary Range: Kshs. (154,729 – 238,221)
- Monthly House Allowance: Kshs. 58,972
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
Applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
- Hold a PhD, Master’s, and Bachelor’s degree in Economics or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution of higher learning;
- Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in teaching or research at the level of Lecturer or Research Fellow, with a proven history of outstanding performance;
- Must have successfully guided to completion either at least one (1) PhD student or three (3) Master’s students since the last academic appointment;
- Must have authored at least three (3) peer-reviewed journal articles, three book chapters, or one scholarly book post their last appointment;
- Be registered with a recognized professional organization relevant to their field;
- Have actively participated in curriculum development and review processes;
- The ability to secure research grants will be considered an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities for Academic Staff:
- Develop, design, and deliver new academic programs aligned with national development and market needs;
- Update and review course materials regularly to reflect current trends and emerging topics;
- Employ innovative and engaging teaching strategies that inspire and educate students;
- Impart both theoretical and practical knowledge, methods, and techniques to enhance student competencies;
- Ensure teaching and course delivery adhere to the Cooperative University’s academic standards and quality assurance regulations;
- Stimulate intellectual debate and critical thinking among students;
- Supervise student research projects to foster skills in academic writing and inquiry;
- Oversee student field visits to help connect academic content with real-world applications;
- Supervise industrial training and internships to bridge theory and practice;
- Set and grade assessments to provide constructive feedback and measure student progress;
- Identify research gaps and lead initiatives that align with the university’s research agenda;
- Formulate research objectives and proposals to steer scholarly investigations;
- Source and secure funding for research to support academic innovation and output;
- Contribute to the development and refinement of the university’s research strategies;
- Conduct independent research, acting as the lead investigator to build institutional knowledge and capacity;
- Publish findings or present research in academic journals and professional forums to enhance visibility and impact;
- Promote the practical application of research results for societal benefit;
- Review scholarly work and serve as a peer reviewer to uphold academic standards;
- Present research at both national and international conferences to foster academic exchange and collaboration;
- Continuously update expertise to remain current with developments in the field;
- Perform other duties as may be assigned to support the university’s objectives.
