REMUNERATION PACKAGE:
- Monthly Basic Salary Range: Kshs. 154,729 – 238,221
- Monthly House Allowance: Kshs. 58,972
Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates must meet the following academic and professional requirements:
- Hold a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degree in Communication or a closely related discipline from an accredited or recognized university;
- Have at least three (3) years of experience in teaching or academic research at the level of Lecturer or Research Fellow, backed by a solid record of high performance;
- Must have successfully supervised a minimum of three (3) Master’s students or one (1) PhD student to completion since their last academic appointment;
- Have published at least three (3) peer-reviewed journal articles, or authored three chapters in a scholarly book, or one full scholarly book since the last promotion;
- Be affiliated with a recognized professional association in the relevant field;
- Have taken part in curriculum development and/or academic program review;
- Proven ability to secure research funding will be considered an added advantage.

Academic Duties and Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and deliver new academic programs across various levels that align with national priorities and market demands;
- Regularly review and update academic content and materials to reflect current industry and societal trends;
- Utilize innovative teaching approaches that foster interest, comprehension, and enthusiasm among students;
- Transfer theoretical and practical knowledge, methodologies, and techniques to support student skill development;
- Ensure all academic programs adhere to the Cooperative University’s internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements;
- Stimulate intellectual engagement and encourage critical and reflective thinking among learners;
- Supervise academic research and student projects to build research and writing skills;
- Coordinate educational field visits to bridge classroom learning with real-life applications;
- Guide students during industrial attachments and internships to promote workplace readiness;
- Prepare, administer, and grade student assessments while offering constructive feedback;
- Identify key research areas that align with institutional goals and societal challenges;
- Formulate research objectives and develop proposals to drive academic inquiries;
- Explore and manage opportunities for securing research grants and external funding;
- Contribute to the formulation of institutional research strategies to support impactful outputs;
- Lead independent research initiatives, mentor junior researchers, and contribute to knowledge advancement;
- Publish academic findings and present results through recognized journals, conferences, or other scholarly platforms;
- Translate research insights into practical solutions and encourage uptake of findings;
- Serve as a reviewer or referee to help maintain high academic and research standards;
- Represent the university through national and international academic forums and exhibitions;
- Stay abreast of current developments in the discipline to maintain subject matter expertise;
- Perform other tasks as assigned in line with the university’s operational needs and strategic priorities.
