Public Affairs Manager

As a Public Affairs Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing public affairs strategies that align with Google’s mission, particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa. You will engage with policymakers, industry leaders, think tanks, and influencers to shape policy dialogue around emerging technologies like AI, cloud services, and data personalization. Your work will contribute to creating a favorable environment for Google’s products and services while promoting responsible digital growth.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience. At least 7 years of experience in policy analysis, public affairs, or strategic communications within the tech sector or public interest domains. Familiarity with SSA policy environments and issues related to technology and innovation.

Preferred Qualifications
Background in public affairs, communications, or technology policy, ideally within government, NGOs, private sector, or relevant associations. Experience working with international teams and cross-functional stakeholders. Strong understanding of internet technologies and related policy landscapes. Demonstrated ability to develop strategic messaging and manage high-impact campaigns. Proven capacity to thrive in fast-paced, rapidly evolving environments.

Key Responsibilities
Design and implement public affairs strategies focused on business growth drivers such as AI and cloud technology. Build effective engagement frameworks with policymakers, civil society, and key opinion leaders to advance Google’s policy objectives. Collaborate with global policy teams and internal departments to support aligned communication and stakeholder initiatives. Draft impactful messaging and lead public dialogue that reflects Google’s values and role in society. Identify opportunities to expand influence and improve digital policy discussions in Sub-Saharan Africa.
