Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Teaching and assessing courses in their discipline at both undergraduate and graduate levels;
- Conducting research that informs knowledge, policy, and practice;
- Developing proposals to secure research funding;
- Disseminating research findings through publications in peer-reviewed journals, monographs, policy briefs, conferences, and other creative platforms;
- Innovating and inventing, including registering patents;
- Supervising and examining undergraduate and graduate projects, tutorials, practicals, and field attachments;
- Providing mentorship and career counseling to students and junior staff;
- Initiating and executing research projects;
- Collaborating with academic faculty on curriculum development and review;
- Partnering with industry and other stakeholders for consultancy services in their areas of expertise;
- Establishing partnerships and networks through projects and sourcing donors for community initiatives;
- Providing professional and community service;
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements for Appointment
To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- PhD or equivalent degree from a recognized institution in the relevant specialization;
OR,
- Master’s degree in the relevant field from a recognized university with a minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at the university level or six (6) years in research or industry;
- Registration with a relevant professional body (where applicable);
- Demonstrated capability in university teaching and research;
- Participation in conferences and similar academic forums;
- A minimum of six (6) publication points, with at least four (4) from refereed scholarly journals;
- Fulfillment of the requirements outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
